Our philosophy in breeding Labs is that health is the up most important point. There is no sense having a Lab that looks great, but has genetic issues, or health problems. The second point is temperament.
Labs are widely known for their great temperament, however, if the breeder does not focus on this, it will be overlooked and you may end up with a hyper “Mexican jumping bean of a dog”. Thirdly, intelligence; The Lab has to have the ideal intelligence level in order to be a non-hyper family Lab. Typically a show Lab is “dumber than a box of rocks”. Not all though, and that is the level of understanding the breeder has to have. Fourth in our point line up; Looks.
This is the blocky head, short muzzle and proportionate body. Fifth, desire to retrieve. This is the last point due to the importance of the previous four, and an attribute that is best to not be number one through four. At least not for a non-hyper family Lab. These points have taken us 25 years to perfect.
