North to Alaska!

Joe: UndercoverJoe (the Lab) is heading north on a very long drive from Charlotte, NC to Alaska – and he’s loving every minute of it. So far he has traveled 1,700 miles to Bismark, ND and has 2,779 miles left to Anchorage – mostly through the Canadian wilderness.
Follow Joe’s adventures on his trip with us by signing up at http://twitter.com/labpupsdotcom. You will see his reaction to sights and smells he experiences for the first time, and see the photographs. The trip has returned him to puppy stage. Every motel has allowed him to stay in our rooms, and he is perfectly behaved. Joe is very excited about going on the JaxMax boat and fishing for the first time in his life.

Alaska Charter trips still availableTripper, Brandt, Errol & Bobby

Have you ever thought of experiencing Alaska? (You can see Alaska on a cruise, but you won’t experience it that way). I watch visitors on the cruises, 200 feet above the water with a camera, or on one of the trams that delivers them to tourist traps. They are having a good time, but only experiencing a commercial route that has been set up for them. To experience Alaska, you need a personal tour guide that can take you to the right places. That’s our job.

By booking with us, you will be picked up at the Anchorage Airport and taken care of in royal style until you return to the airport. Most of our visitors are families that enjoy fishing in the more calm waters of Prince William Sound, or hiking on the many islands. Gold panning or a visit to an abandoned gold mine is also high on the list. There is so much to do – and you will be right in the middle of the action, experiencing Alaska in a style reserved to those that want to be a part of the action - not just a spectator. You will also have the opportunity to ship home the fresh Salmon or Halibut you catch. (For those of you desiring fresh fish, but not an Alaska trip, contact me at 704-975-2598 and I can arrange to ship you some of our catch).
There are four weeks left this season, starting August 1st until September 15th. Plan on flying Continental Airlines on a Sunday, and enjoying your experience Monday Through Friday. Call me for details, and I will tell you exactly what to expect, as well as forwarding to you an itinerary and packing list. I will also forward you a survey to fill out prior to your trip, so we can make sure you have the best time possible! Prices for the trip are very low. Children welcome.

Labpups Rescue Work – Your Help Needed!

Charlie-150As many of you know, we have been involved in Labrador rescue work for many years. This rescue work is expensive, and has been primarily supported through sales of Labrador puppies, JaxMax food, and Alaskan tours. It has also been supported by donations from wonderful people that want to make the difference in the life of a Lab.
Due to current economic conditions, donations are way down, and for the first time in history we find ourselves on the brink of turning down rescues. We need your help to continue. We are not set up as a non-profit at this point, so your donations will most likely not be tax deductible, but you will Toby-150help save the life of a hard to place Labrador. The cost of intake, rehabilitation, and finding a permanent home, transportation, vet care etc. costs approximately $2,200 per rescued dog. You can make rescue donations though check or credit card. Your help, as always, is GREATLY appreciated!
Rescues are much harder to place because their behavior and attitude isalready set, and they sometimes have health problems. Rescues need a family that is experienced in handling behavior problems and is willing to accommodate their needs.
Jack-150We also have the need for families that are willing to offer their homes as temporary shelters for these dogs. They come from all over the country, with diverse backgrounds. Please e-mail me if you have an interest in opening your home to these Labs.

Keep an eye on Twitter for trip updates, and thank you again for supporting our efforts through your donations, purchases, physical help and encouragement.

Sincerely,

Tripp Wood and the Labpups Family
