Our Family Labs are bred with five priorities in balance: health, temperament, intelligence, classic Labrador looks, and a natural desire to retrieve. We prefer the classic Labrador appearance—not the tall, narrow-headed, long-legged build of field trial lines, nor the short, squat, blocky build of strict show lines. Our Labs have the well-proportioned, athletic look that made the breed so beloved. We also breed for a healthy desire to retrieve without it becoming an obsession. After all, they're called Labrador Retrievers for a reason! This natural retrieving drive keeps them motivated to learn and perform, but doesn't dominate their personality. The result is a calm, intelligent, family-friendly companion who looks like a Lab should look, has the health and longevity you deserve, and the trainability and gentle temperament that makes them perfect family dogs. The Reality of Brindled Pups

Accepted Answer

Brindled Labradors have unique colorations, more exaggerated just after birth. This comes from the inclusion of a double recessive K gene, which allows the normally solid colored Lab to display two or even all three Lab colors. They are rare and beautiful, and also express the same recessive K gene if bred. Their temperament, intelligence, and health are the same as any normally colored Lab.

Please be aware that as your dog ages, the brindled colors will shift in intensity, volume, and location. At some time, you will see your Lab as normally colored, perhaps with slight undertones of grey or yellow, and six months later, they may express their brindled beauty again. This makes them unique, and somewhat like a Chameleon.

There are very few double recessive K gene Labradors in the world, and even fewer that are well-bred for the normal traits. They typically cost two to four times more than a dominant K gene Lab.

In the end, you will fall in love with your Lab regardless of coloration. Even our human babies change dramatically after birth, with hair and eye colors often switching in the toddler or young child years.
